Dr. Thomas Patrick Melady (b. March 4, 1927) served as an American ambassador to Burundi, Uganda and the Vatican. Since 2002, he is Senior Diplomat in residence at The Institute of World Politics in Washington, DC. He served as President of Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut from 1976 to 1986, when he became the University's President Emeritus. Dr. Melady is an authority on Afro-Asian and Central European Affairs and is the author of 16 books and over one hundred-eighty articles.
