The decision of Attorney General Eric Holder to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of the 2001 attacks, in a federal court has been strongly criticised by the Republicans, who argue that, as an enemy combatant, he belongs to a military tribunal. To the astonishment of his supporters, Obama is wavering in his support for Holder.

During the presidential campaigns last year, candidates for both major parties were clear and adamant about the need for health care reform. Americans knew, a year ago, that we had a serious problem with health care. And they wanted it fixed. Yet we are still playing politics.
