The Pope’s visit to Great Britain has been an historical event and a hope for the future, as demonstrated by Newman, a profoundly English figure loved both by Catholics and Anglicans  

Benedict XVI’s visit to the UK in September, 2010 (15th-19th) was the first state visit of a pontiff. The main purpose was to beatify Cardinal John Henry Newman, but it became an opportunity to address the Church of England, the British government and the whole of British society
