A bit before Halloween 2012, Category 1 hurricane Sandy hit Haiti and the Caribbean and the East Coast of the United States, leaving more than a hundred dead, thousands displaced, hundreds of houses destroyed and millions of people without electricity. Called the Frankenstorm, the hurricane caused incalculable damage, shut down the New York stock exchange and also stopped the American presidential campaigns for days.
